Voltarol Open 3: Curb Encounters of the Third Kind

Each day last week, I kept checking the forecast for Saturday, and it got to the point where I had to stop looking. You’d think an outdoor skate event in the middle of May would be a dead cert weather wise, but Mother Nature decided to keep us on our toes until the very last minute. Miraculously, the Derby sun came out on the day, and so too did all the old people who still like to ride their skateboards (and some younger ones as well), from all corners of the UK, and even further afield than that.

The plan was simple this year: let everybody skate the extraterrestrially revamped Rollersnakes carpark, and we’ll throw a few challenges in so we can give out the prizes that were generously gifted to us.

Year three of the Groans Brigade X Dadlands Voltarol Open (dubbed 'Curb Encounters of the Third Kind') did not disappoint, in fact I think it was the best one to date. A huge thanks to everyone who came along, helped out on the day, or showed support in any way.

Here’s to many more Voltarol Opens, as it’s a great excuse to see so many faces, just like the old days.
