Blueprint Skateboards‘ classic 2005 DVD set, the Dan Magee produced Lost and Found came laden with hidden gems and ‘easter eggs’ though one of the main bonus features of interest came in the form of a full section from ex-team rider John Fisher, which was buried somewhere in the middle of the double disc package.
John first caught the nations' attention with his pretty much groundbreaking handrail backside lipslide at the WH Smith rail in Birmingham that graced the cover of Sidewalk issue 62 in November 2001. At that point in history, back lips on rails were still pretty much unseen in this country, so for a little known kid from the outskirts of Brum to be chucking them down a nine stair rail in what was rumoured to be somewhere in the region five goes was something of a head turner.
Though he was hooked up with A Third Foot back in 2001, by the time his Haunts interview came out in Sidewalk issue 72 the following September, John was fully installed in the growing Blueprint am roster. After partaking in 2002s Belong Tour and appearing in the subsequent tour video, John concentrated on filming for Lost and Found, racking up a brace of next level gnarly footage on filming missions with Dan Magee, Neil Chester and Ian Passmore.
Sponsored skateboarding doesn’t always turn out to be everybody’s cup of tea, as was the case here, and John ended up dropping out of the sponsorship game before the eventual release of Lost and Found in 2005 in order to concentrate on studying at Swansea university. For the years that followed, John still skated on a regular basis and would turn up at events from time to time, killing it whenever he wanted to.
Anyway, that’s more enough reading for one day – hit the pay button now and enjoy…
